Carpet Drawing
Drawing: One of the most important steps in carpet weaving is carpet mapping. No
matter how professional weaver is, a detailed map is needed to provide a perfect
carpet. Rugs and carpet designs narrate national tales and legends and
incorporate the culture, traditions and customs of a region. Carpet drawings are
calculated based on the density of the carpet texture and are designed on a
special chessboard with a reference number. Nowadays, carpet drawing is done
either manually or computer.
Traditional Carpet Map Traditional carpet maps fall into two categories: Persian
(asymmetric) and Turkish (symmetric).
Farsi (Asymmetric) Drawing: The desired color is placed on the surface of the
map.
Turkish (Symmetrical) Drawing: In this type of maps the original color is
written as a contract code by number on the map and the weaver selects the text
from the assigned color codes for each number at any time.
Manual or traditional map steps:
In the first step, the pencil drawing is drawn on the checkered paper
with appropriate count, and the rest is done on the initial drawing.
The second step is to draw and draw lines outlined in
pencil.
Next, depending on whether the design is Turkish or Persian rugs, the
color is put on the design.
The fourth step is to point the map at which the designer translates the design
into a language we can understand.
Computer Drawing: Nowadays, with the advancement of the drawing technology, it
is being done with new technologies, which has become very common with the
passing of time. Nowadays, using software designed to accelerate the work and
save resources, it is also possible for the designer to make changes at every
stage of the design process.
The size of the carpet map is divided into four types: global or whole, map 1.2
longitudinal, map 1.4 or symmetrical and divergent.
Global Map: In this type of map, none of the graphs are duplicated such as
asymmetric tree map, asymmetric image, etc.
1/2 Longitudinal or Standing Map: In this type of maps the right-hand drawings
are drawn with the left-hand drawings quite symmetrical but there is no symmetry
in the upper and lower part of the map. Therefore, the designer draws only half
the length of the map. Such as altar plans, roadblocks, etc.
Map 1/4 or Symmetric Quaternary: In these maps, the pictures are repeated
symmetrically on the four sides of the carpet. The drawing is equivalent to one
quarter of the whole carpet and the other three quarters are symmetrical.
Usually bergamot maple designs are quaternally designed.
Drawing Map: A drawing or drawing that is the basis for the formation of
repeated and formatted drawings is called a drawing map. Drawing drawings of
small drawings are drawn and painted. The most famous drawings of drawings are
fish, adobe, inscription and ...
